Reflecting on your day through journaling allows you to evaluate your day, reflect on what happened during the day and let it go and essentially to put the day to bed.
It allows you to empty your thoughts before you go to sleep. Emptying all of your thoughts and putting them on paper before bed has been shown to:
~ Decrease anxiety
~ Reframe negative thoughts
~ Calm your mind and body
~ Help increase your relaxation (therefore moving you closer to sleep)
Journaling also allows you to get into the habit of taking notes and analysing situations. It can also be used to express and explore emotions and gratitude. It allows for greater self-awareness, encourages you to be present and mindful with yourself and life.
