How To Clean Your Waeco Naturally

One thing we have noticed is that our Waeco fridge gets smelly and dirty much quicker then a regular fridge.

Have you noticed this too?

It can be super gross and stinky (especially if the kids put their yoghurt or milk upside down in there).

So roughly every 2 weeks we need to give it a clean out.

It is super important that we do this in a No-Tox way, this was our mission when hitting the road – to not go back to using toxic commercial cleaners and other products. We have many sensitivities in our family to chemicals so it really isn’t an option, plus Low Tox living is just so much better for our health and the environment, so living on the road was no excuse for us to revert back.

I do this with doTERRAs OnGuard Cleaning Concentrate in some warm water, a wet Norwex Enviro cloth and doTERRA Lemon essential oil.

The Onguard cleaning concentrate is a multi-use cleaning liquid which can be used as a multipurpose spray or cleaner, bathroom cleaner, we use it in the flush part of our camp toilet, dish washing liquid and anything cleaning need (we have used it to clean our canvas of the camper trailer as well.

doTERRAs Lemon Essential oil is a multipurpose cleaning oil and an amazing deodorizer for the fridge and leaves it smelly nice and fresh again. It also helps keep down any bacteria levels as well and helps keep fruit and veg and other foods fresher for long which is important on the road. Lemon is super versatile to we use in in our water, cooking, when we have a sore throat, and so so much more!

Norwex’s Enviro Cloths are really high quality microfiber cloths which remove upto 99% bacteria from a surface and remove dirt and grime easily and often with just water. They are especially great because they are reusable, if you haven’t cleaned something too gross with it you can just rinse it out and hang up to dry and just wash when you need to. So perfect for on the road!

The same technique can be used in a regular house fridge and freezer as well.

After a rinse and wipe out with the OnGuard cleaning concentrate mix to get the gunkiness and chunky bits out, I add a few drops of the lemon essential oil to my wet Enviro cloth (or other cleaning cloth but honestly nothing cleans like these Norwex Cloths!!! We use the majority of their range of cloths and products) and wipe over the inside of the fridge.
